Shreyas Iyer was a part of Delhi Capitals for several years before moving to KKR in 2022. He has had one of his best seasons while playing for DC when he amassed 519 runs in 2020. Should Pant not be retained ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, then Shreyas Iyer stands a good chance of returning to DC as the team would be on the hunt for a new skipper. Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy record boasts of great numbers, thanks to a well-oiled KKR unit in IPL 2024.
Shreyas had led DC to their first playoffs in seven years in 2019 where they finished third on the standings. Iyer was replaced with Pant as the captain in 2021 when the batter was ruled out for the first half of the season due to a dislocated shoulder. While Iyer did make his return, Pant was retained as the franchise’s skipper.
