As the cricketing world gears up for yet another electrifying clash in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), an old interview resurfaced, shedding light on the intense RCB vs KKR rivalry.
Star Sports recently reshared a video interview featuring KKR’s current mentor Gautam Gambhir, wherein he candidly expressed his fervent desire to defeat RCB every time they faced off on the pitch.
Gautam Gambhir’s fiery comments on RCB
Gambhir, known for his ‘straight-to-the-face’ remarks, revealed that RCB was the one team he always wanted to beat, citing several memorable encounters that fueled his competitive spirit.
“One team I wanted to beat every time and probably even in my dreams was RCB. I wanted to. Probably the second most high profile team and flamboyant team the owner and probably with the squad. Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Honestly not won anything still thought that they won everything and that kind of an attitude and I can’t take that,” said Gambhir to StarSports.
The two-time IPL winner also called back some famous RCB vs KKR IPL games, saying that three of Kolkata’s most impressive victories came at the expense of RCB.
“Probably the three best wins that Kolkata has ever had were against RCB. The first time the first game of the IPL – Brendon McCullum against RCB. 49 all-out was against RCB. 100 in 6 overs against RCB.”
With the IPL 2024 season in full swing, Gambhir’s reflections on the intense rivalry between KKR and RCB have only heightened the anticipation surrounding their upcoming clash.
