GT vs MI: Ahead of epic clash, new GT skipper Shubman Gill praises Motera crowd as being key strength for the team

Shubman Gill is ready to captain Gujarat Titans for the first time in his career. Ahead of the epic GT vs MI IPL 2024 clash, Gill has lauded the Motera crowd for being one of their key strengths. The young skipper has backed the fans of the side for giving extra impetus to the team.

Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain of the side after Hardik Pandya’s trade to Mumbai Indians. Gill particularly has good memories at the Narendra Modi Stadium. He has played some crucial knocks for India and GT at this venue.

“Feels very excited, to be able to captain at a stadium where I have a lot of fond memories. This has been one of our strengths, the last couple of seasons the support that we’ve got from the fans has been tremendous for us,” said Shubman Gill at the Toss.

I was here a week prior before this game, played a practice match, had a couple of practice sessions. Everyone is looking good, everyone is looking fit,” Gill added.

GT has given debuts to 3 players heading into IPL 2024. The biggest miss in the team is Mohammed Shami who is missing the tournament after undergoing a surgery on his ankle.

“We have got three players making debuts for GT – Umesh bhai, Spencer and Omarzai. There are so many players who will be making their debut later this season. There is Sushant from the U-19s, Sai Sudharsan has been doing well for us in the last couple of sessions,” Gill concluded.
