This incident happened in the sixth match of the Oman Quadrangular Series, which was played between Nepal and Ireland on 14th February, at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground. Ireland batted first and struggled to get going, as they barely crossed the 110-run mark after 18 overs.
In the third ball of the penultimate over which was bowled by Kamal Singh, Irish all-rounder Mark Adair tried to play a big shot but could not connect. As he rushed to take a quick single, his partner at the non-striker end, Andy McBrine took a tumble after colliding with Singh.

McBrine was a long way away from the popping crease when Singh threw the ball at Nepal’s wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh but he chose not the run the batter out, providing a fantastic instance to define what the gentleman’s game is all about.

It turned out to be a defining moment as Ireland went from 114/8 to 127 with McBrine hitting a six, while in reply, Nepal could only score 111 runs. Incidentally, Sheikh was one of Nepal’s best batters as he amassed 23 runs.
