New Zealand to Aim for 1st Test Series Win: If New Zealand can get at least a draw from the second match, starting Friday they would complete a historic series win. The 2nd Test will be played at Hagley, under the red setting of the Covid-19 Protection Framework,

This was just New Zealand’s fifth test win over South Africa from 46 matches – demonstrating how much of a stranglehold the Proteas have had over the Black Caps historically. New Zealand’s last test win against South Africa came in 2004 at Eden Park when Stephen Fleming captained the side.

South African Captain Dean Elgar says “A lot went wrong. Not a lot went right. A bit of a self-reflection may not be a bad idea. We have some unplanned days off to do that. We should be a hell of a lot more competitive.”

New Zealand Captain, Tom Latham: “Its a fantastic performance. Winning the toss was a big part of it. It’s probably the perfect performance. We know how good South Africa are. We expect them to be at their best next game. Our focus is coming out and winning the next Test match.”
