NZ vs ENG: Kane Williamson Century – New Zealand star batter Kane Williamson is back in form ahead of the 2023 season of the Indian premier League. The former skipper hit a comeback hundred on day four of the ongoing Test match against England on Monday. Williamson had only scored 10 runs in his previous three innings of the series, but he found his mojo just when his side needed it. His teammates cheered as he smashed a boundary to surpass the three figure mark, while fans applauded surrounding the grassy banks of the Basin Reserve. Earlier in the day the 32-year-old also broke the record for most runs scored by a New Zealander in Test cricket. Williamson accomplished the milestone surpassing Ross Taylor’s tally of 7653 runs. Kane Williamson reached his 26th Test century, helping New Zealand increase their lead to 197 runs on the fourth day of the second Test in Wellington. The former captain, who was 25 (81) overnight, achieved three figures off 226 balls in the 136th over by hitting Stuart Broad for four through deep third man. He and Tom Blundell made England’s bowlers uneasy, assisting the Black Caps in reaching 423 for 5 at tea.

NZ vs ENG 2nd Test Day 4: Henry Nicholls was dismissed early after pushing Ollie Robinson into the slips with Kiwis trailing 24 runs at the start of the day. Harry Brook finally caught the ball after juggling it four times. The arrival of Daryl Mitchell, though, altered the tone of the morning session by giving New Zealand’s innings some momentum through a display of aggressive hitting.

In the 107th over, he reached his half-century off 52 balls with five fours and one six, and the sight of Broad valiantly flinging himself around in the deep served to define the session. Williamson, on the other hand, continued to play just like he had on the last day, tenaciously fending off England’s attempts and progressively scoring runs.

He reached the required four runs to pass Ross Taylor as the all-time highest Test run-scorer for New Zealand and later escaped a close stumping call at 45 before reaching his own half-century from 148 deliveries a few balls after Mitchell.
