NZ vs ENG HIGHLIGHTS: NewZealand beat England by 1 run – New Zealand have defeated England by 1 run in one of the finest Test matches in recent history. Neil Wegner was the hero for Kiwis on the final day at the Basin Reserve. The pacer not only scalped the prized wickets of Joe Root and Ben Stokes but also removed James Anderson for the famous Test win. With this win, NZ have drawn level 1-1 with England in two-match series. England were in huge trouble after Kiwis reduced them to 80/5 early on Day 5. But Joe Root and Ben Stokes steadied the ship by stitching a 121-run partnership. Root smashed a quick 88 while Stokes played a great role of a firm anchor with 33 from 116 balls. Earlier, England ended Day 4 at 48/1 with still 210 runs to get on the final day.

NewZealand have set a 258-run target for England after following on. Despite early jitters, Kane Williamson and Tom Blundell led Kiwi fightback, adding a 155-run stand. Kane Williamson scored a brilliant 132 while Blundell fell short of his century, scoring 90. Jack Leach bagged a fifer but Kiwis dominated the second innings, scoring 483.

Kiwis began Day 3 at 202-3 after being asked to follow on. Openers Tom Lathan (83) and Devon Conway (61) smashed their respective 50s to lay a strong foundation. The duo stitched a massive 149-run partnership before throwing away their wickets. Will Young was the other batter to return to the pavilion for the hosts. In the morning session, Kiwis were all out on 209 in 1st innings after the Three Lions declared at 435-8 on Day 2.
