NZ vs AUS LIVE: Tim Seifert gutted for Devon Conway, but excited to play in T20 World Cup final – New Zealand were dealt a major blow before the T20 World Cup final as Devon Conway was ruled out with an injury. The left-hander had been one of the in-form players for the Blackcaps during the tournament and chipped in with a fine 46 against England in the semi-final. While Conway will be a huge miss behind the stumps, the Kiwis are set to bring in another experienced international in Tim Seifert for the final.

As quoted by stuff.co.nz, Tim Seifert is looking forward to play in the T20 World Cup final and is leaving no stone unturned in his preparations for the big game. The Blackcaps held the first of two optional training sessions ahead of the game against Australia on Friday and Conway could be seen helping Seifert prepare, his right hand wrapped in a cast.
After the session, Tim Seifert said that he was ready to go when called upon but was gutted for Conway, who will be missing out. The Kiwi wicket-keeper said, “When you’re not playing, when you’re one of the reserve players, you’re always ready to go and preparing like you are going to play, because unfortunately, injuries do happen, that’s just sport.”

He added, “It’s very unfortunate for Devon, we’re gutted for him, but at the end of the day sometimes that’s sport and little things like that happen. As a player I’m ready to go, and I’m very excited to be playing – hopefully – in the World Cup final. It’s a dream come true.”
Tim Seifert is likely to return down the order, a role he played for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL. He batted at No.7 against Pakistan, scoring a run-a-ball eight against Pakistan. The Kiwi wicket-keeper said, “I’ve had a pretty good period leading into this competition, with the experience of playing overseas and being around big environments, which has helped, especially in these conditions. I’ve prepared well and whatever team we put out there, I think everyone will be ready.”
