NZ vs AUS LIVE: New Zealand eyes winning two ICC titles in one year: Kane Williamson’s New Zealand will face off Aaron Finch-led Australia in the T20 World Cup Final on Sunday, November 14. While New Zealand has reached the final for the first time, Australia will be featuring for the second time in the final of the showpiece event. In 2010, they came close to winning the trophy but lost to Ashes rivals England in the summit clash. As a result, both teams are aiming for their maiden T20 WC Trophy.

Meanwhile, Kane Williamson’s New Zealand have a chance to do something in the history of cricket which no one has done till now. Both Australia & New Zealand knocked out both the two pre-tournament favourites in a similar fashion to book a spot in the T20 WC Final. The BlackCaps needed 20 off 12 against England, while Aussies needed 22 off 12 against Pakistan, and both of them managed to do it with an entire over to spare and 5 wickets in hand.

NZ vs AUS T20 World Cup 2021 Final –

  • Sunday will be the third instance when the finals of two ICC tournaments will be played in a single year
  • The final of the World Test Championship was played in June 2021 in which New Zealand won
  • Earlier in 2007, the finals of two ICC tournaments were played – 2007 50-over WC and 2007 T20 WC.
  • In 2007, Australia won the ODI World Cup while India won the T20 World Cup final.
  • This was followed by two ICC tournaments in 2009 – T20 World Cup & the Champions Trophy.
  • T20 World Cup 2009 was won by Pakistan while the Champions Trophy 2009 was won by Australia.

New Zealand – the first team to reach two ICC Trophy finals in the same year:

New Zealand stormed into its maiden T20 World Cup final on Wednesday after knocking out pre-tournament favorites England in a thriller and also became the first team to reach two finals of the ICC Trophy in the same year.

Earlier, Sri Lanka and Australia were the two finalists of the 2007 ODI World Cup while the final of the T20 World Cup was played between India and Pakistan.

In 2009, the final of the T20 World Cup was played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka while Australia and New Zealand locked horns in the Champions Trophy final in the same year.

No Asian teams for second time in a row in the T20 WC final:

This is the first time in the T20 World Cup history when no Asian team has reached the tournament final for the second time in a row.

The 2016 T20 World Cup, was played between West Indies and England – non-Asian teams & this year’s final will be played between two non-Asian teams.

T20 World Cup will get a new champion:

The T20 World Cup will get its new champion on Sunday as both Australia and New Zealand are aiming for their maiden trophy.

In the 6 editions of the T20 WC held from 2007 till now, West Indies is the only team that has won the title twice.
