Despite being on the backfoot at the end of the first day, in the opening Test vs New Zealand in Wellington, Australia posted a respectable 383 on the board, courtesy of Cameron Green’s unbeaten 174. Resuming innings from 103, the lanky all-rounder strung a partnerships of 116 with No. 11 batter Josh Hazlewood, to put the visitors in a strong position, in the Test.
Green, who had not hit any six the previous day, took the attack to the Kiwi bowlers, and counter-attacked them with five maximums. The highlight of his partnership was, he trusted Hazlewood of sticking around, and taking his team over 350. The latter also responded with 22 from 62 deliveries, hitting four boundaries.
This is just the 27th occasion when the partnership has crossed the 100-run mark, for the 10th wicket, with the record being held by Joe Root and James Anderson (198) vs India in 2014, Nottingham.

As far as the bowling by the hosts is concerned, Matt Henry bagged a fifer, giving away 70 runs. The other were a bit expensive with William ORourke ending with figures of 2/87. Skipper Tim Southee gave away 92 runs without picking a wicket.
