The excitement of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is about a month away, and some Indian players are already in the limelight. Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has identified two left-handers to keep an eye on in this year’s competition.
Shastri backs Dube, Jaiswal
Shastri emphasized Shivam Dube‘s comeback and Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s potential in an interview with the ICC. The former all-rounder believes that both players have the potential to be crucial to India’s efforts to win the T20 World Cup again.
“The two gentlemen you’ve got to watch out for, and both are left-handers, both playing their first World Cup. One is (Yashasvi) Jaiswal. We know a lot about him, he did extremely well against England, explosive at the top of the order, left-hander, he’s young, he’s fearless and he’ll play shots,” Shastri told ICC.
“But there’s someone in the middle order, please watch out for [him], because he is explosive, he’s devastating and he’s a match-winner. Shivam Dube hits sixes for fun, and when it comes to spin bowling, he can kill you. He’ll park a few balls out of Long Island into the small island, he’s that kind of a player. He hits it big, he hits it long, and like I said, against spin, he could kill you,” he added.

Skillful Jaiswal
Jaiswal, a 22-year-old explosive batter, has already established himself at the top of the order with his fearless style. Yashasvi promises fireworks with a strike-rate of over 161 in T20 internationals, which includes four fifties and a century. Jaiswal is a player to watch out for because of his ability to take on any bowling attack. He is currently showcasing his talent with the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024.
Destructive Dube
Dube on the other hand, has been in impeccable form for Chennai Super Kings in the last couple of seasons. The southpaw’s ability to clear boundary ropes at will makes him an asset for any team.
