It’s been the same old story for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The captain, name, logo, and owner may change, but the results remain the same. Virat Kohli, their top scorer, has come under criticism for his slow strike rate. Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green have been monumental failures. But these players aren’t the reason behind their 1-6 record, but rather AB de Villiers.
The bet that doomed RCB
The former RCB great had made a bet with former Chennai Super Kings player Scott Styris ahead of their second match of the IPL 2024 season with the Punjab Kings. If RCB won the match, Stryis would have to don the team’s jersey, while Mr. 360 would have to wear the Punjab Kings jersey if his team failed to win.
In the end, AB won the wager. However, that victory has backfired on him and RCB. Since that win, Faf du Plessis and Co. are 0-5. After their fifth consecutive loss, AB even tweeted at Styris, pleading with him to stop wearing that jersey and allow the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to get their second win.
