MS Dhoni reacts first time after giving up CSK captaincy, says ‘Rutu’ is ‘quite the same’

IPL 2024: Former CSK skipper MS Dhoni reflected on his muscle memory, claims he doesn't react after fielding mistakes

Former Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni has gone on to claim he doesn’t react a lot when fielders make mistakes. One such incident took place during the CSK vs GT clash. Kiwi star Rachin Ravindra dropped a Sai Sudharsan catch. When questioned about the same on reacting to it, Dhoni casually replied that he is not the captain of the side anymore.

Rachin Ravindra was asked “When you missed the catch, did you look at MS? How did he react, what did he tell you?” But to this question, MS Dhoni himself replied, “Well, there’s a new captain.”

“It (muscle memory) is there. But, I am not somebody who reacts a lot, especially when somebody is playing his first game or second game. I think Rutu (Ruturaj) is quite the same. But it was fun to watch him (Rachin) move all round the ground,” Dhoni concluded.

It was a good gesture from Dhoni on putting his trust on the new skipper. Dhoni further appreciated Ruturaj by saying that he too doesn’t react much if fielders make a mistake.

As for Rachin, the Kiwi sensation stole the limelight with his destructive batting both against RCB and GT. He went on to take some blinding catches. The dropped catch of Sai Sudharsan was a one off rare occasion.
