18-year-old Musheer Khan showcased an impressive performance during IND U-19 vs IRE U-19 at the ongoing U-19 World Cup, scoring a remarkable century. Batting at No.3, Musheer reached his half-century in 66 balls and accelerated to reach his century off 100 balls. His innings included 9 fours and 4 sixes, contributing to India’s win with total score of 301 for 7.
“I feel great to have hit my first hundred for India Under-19. I hurried on a bit for runs in the last match, so I gave myself some time in this match.. “ said Musheer after the match.
Musheer, the younger brother of India A sensation Sarfaraz Kahn, formed a crucial partnership of 156 runs with captain Uday Saharan, who scored 75 off 84 balls. However, Musheer was eventually dismissed in the 48th over while attempting a quick run.
“Both our styles [his and Safaraz’s] are similar. The six I hit over midwicket was the best! I am glad, and I hope I can play as well in the upcoming matches. I’m not satisfied yet!” he added.
Miles away, donning the same Blue Jersey, Sarfaraz Khan delivered a stellar performance in India A’s second Test against England Lions. Coming in after a solid opening partnership, Sarfaraz scored a century off 89 balls, eventually reaching 161 off 160 balls.
His innings included 18 fours and 5 sixes. Despite a mid-innings slump, Sarfaraz and Washington Sundar’s partnership of 169 runs helped India A regain momentum. India A posted a total of 489 in their first innings, taking a lead of 337 runs.
