Now that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has accepted hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in a hybrid model, the focus shifts to whether the India vs Pakistan match will be played. The 8-team tournament was originally slated to have three venues (Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi).
Dubai to host India vs Pakistan match in Champions Trophy 2025?
The India cricket team was scheduled to play at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. But since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to send their team over, the chances of an India vs Pakistan match happening in Lahore were virtually zero. It was then reported that the highly billed game would be played in Dubai, UAE.
These past reports seemed to have come true now. According to Cricket Pakistan, Dubai won’t just host the Champions Trophy 2025 but will be the venue for all of the India vs Pakistan matches in the next three years.

PCB’s proposal to ICC & BCCI
The neighboring nation’s clashes in the ICC events, the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, and the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 might all take place in Dubai irrespective of where they are originally scheduled to be played. Both of these tournaments are to be played in India. The women’s event completely, and the men’s will be co-hosted with Sri Lanka.
The idea to have Dubai as the host for the India vs Pakistan matches has been floated by the PCB towards the ICC and the BCCI. If both agree, it will go ahead. The PCB demands a permanent solution for when the two nations are playing in ICC events and doesn’t want extra financial incentives. “We don’t want money; we want respect,” said a PCB official told Cricket Pakistan.
