Not Jay Shah, huge fight in Pakistan Cricket Board meeting over Asia Cup mismanagement

Council members blamed PCB's COO and not Jay Shah after Asia Cup mismanagement

A huge fight broke out in the Pakistan Cricket Board meeting regarding the mismanagement of the Asia Cup. Surprisingly, Jay Shah wasn’t blamed, and instead, PCB blamed its own technical director Salman Nasser for the fiasco. A heated argument took place as some members also suggested removing Nasser from his COO post.

The Asia Cup is done and dusted and the fans patiently await for the start of the ICC World Cup. But, it is now time for evaluation of the Asia Cup and in doing so a huge fight broke out in the PCB meeting.

Initially, Jay Shah the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was blamed by the PCB for being partial towards Pakistan, however, now the PCB has started to blame its own members for the gross mismanagement. PCB believes that the event was a disaster as ticket prices were changed randomly.

Moreover, the India vs Pakistan high-voltage matches were held in near-empty stadiums which is a huge face loss for the PCB. During the meeting, some of the members wanted Salman Naseer to be dismissed and a new COO to be appointed on his behalf. Usman Wahla, the Director of International Cricket was also placed under hot waters.

Following this meeting, Salman Naseer’s hold in the PCB has considerably weakened. With other members moving out to join the ICC council, the PCB is facing a shortage of council members.

The Asia Cup had its controversy even before it started. Pakistan was the host but India decided not to go to their neighboring country to play the tournament and thus as a result the tournament underwent a hybrid. 4 matches were held in Pakistan while the remainder was held in Sri Lanka which dealt a huge blow to PCB and Pakistan in terms of revenue earned.

Pakistan’s performance in the tournament was abysmal. Babar Azam and Co managed to reach the Super 4s but lost to India and further injuries to crucial players saw the side getting eliminated. On the other hand, the Men in Blue defeated Sri Lanka to become the champions
