Virat Kohli was a major failure in the recently concluded IND vs SL ODI series. The slow pitch conditions didn’t really favour the Indian batters especially Virat Kohli. The ace Indian top batter failed to score big runs as India went on to lose the series 2-0. And after the series, Dinesh Karthik claimed that he can’t defend Kohli but claims playing in such tricky conditions is very hard.
Not just Virat Kohli, save Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel to some extent, all the other batters failed to perform. India were tasked to chase trice in the series and the Men in Blue failed to chased down less than 250+ score even once.
“In this series… let’s admit. Be it Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma or anyone else. With a slightly semi-new ball, between overs 8-30, it’s hard work. Nothing to worry about. Not too many pitches work that way, but it’s been a tough pitch to play spinners. I’m not going to defend Virat Kohli here, but playing spin here is very hard,” Dinesh Karthik told Cricbuzz.
It is safe to say that the tricky and spinning conditions of the pitch baffled the Team India batters. This helped the hosts clinch a 2-0 win which helped them break a 27-year record. But Dinesh Karthik didn’t effectively blame Virat Kohli for India’s loss.
He claimed that the spinning tracks made it very difficult for the Indian batters to play. The former Indian wicketkeeper also added how all the batters struggled to play in the mid innings of the game.
