‘Not even MS Dhoni can teach..’: Hardik Pandya makes big statement on ex-Indian skipper in IPL 2024

With just four wins, the team's poor on-field performance made matters worse for MI, and they are currently ninth in the IPL 2024 points standings.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has had a topsy-turvy ride in IPL 2024. The Indian all-rounder has endured a lot of flak from the start of the seasons- from being booed by own fans to being questioned on various captaincy decisions by experts. However, after the win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, Hardik said he was always big on taking responsibilities and even namedropped MS Dhoni to make his point.

‘Owning my mistakes’

Responsibility-wise, I was always someone who wanted responsibility because when you own your things, it kind of becomes more personal to you. So for me, it was always about owning my mistake and at the same point of time taking those chances, maybe failing and learning. That experience no one can teach you – not your closest aide, not your idol, to some extent not even Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni) when he was around,” Hardik Pandya told Star Sports.

Pandya’s tough start

Prior to the season, Hardik completed an incredible trade from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians, where he was named captain of the team. It meant that he terminated the ten-year leadership of MI by Rohit Sharma, a move that was poorly received by some fans.

With just four wins, the team’s poor on-field performance made matters worse, and they are currently ninth in the IPL 2024 points standings.
