Rohit Sharma may not be the captain of Mumbai Indians anymore, but he is definitely a top leader. He once again proved his mettle with the bat by providing MI to a flying start against Delhi Capitals. If the innings was a testimony to his batting prowess, his speech in the dressing room after the win was enough proof that he is still a leader in the MI camp despite not being a captain anymore.
Rohit on Sunday played a fantastic innings of 49 runs of 27 balls in MI’s win over Delhi Capitals. Courtesy of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan’s fast start, MI piled on a huge score of 234 runs. In reply, DC could only get to 205.
After the match, Mark Boucher announced Rohit as the winner of Mi’s internal award. After being given the badge by batting coach Keiron Pollard, Rohit delivered a rousing speech which spoke volumes about the love and respect he commands in the dressing room.

“I thought it was a wonderful batting performance. It’s something that we’ve all been striving from game one. Just goes to show that the individual performances don’t matter if the whole batting group can put their hands up and look at the team’s goals, we can achieve that kind of total. It is something that we’ve been talking for a long long time and that is something that the batting coach, Mark and the captain want,” Rohit said as the MI dressing room erupted in huge applause.
