Hardik Pandya finally rolled over his arms to bowl in the MI vs CSK clash. But as per Australian legend Adam Gilchrist, Hardik Pandya doesn’t look anywhere near 100% fit. Despite getting 2 wickets, Pandya was extremely expensive in his 3 over spell. Gilchrist raised questions about his fitness, especially his bowling attributes.
Hardik Pandya didn’t bowl in the previous 2 games as experts started to question about his fitness and injuries. But the new Mumbai Indians skipper rolled his arms against formidable opponents, Chennai Super Kings. On his first over he went on to concede 15 runs. In the end, he gave away 43 runs in his 3 overs with 2 dismissals of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell.
Not 100% fit?
“The only positive about Hardik Pandya and his bowling was that he was prepared to take on the challenge. I am captain, I am gonna have a crack but then he looks proppy, as we use in Australian sporting terms, you are not quite fluent. He does not look anywhere near 100 percent fit with the ball in hand and if there is any doubt about the physicality. His bowling was scattered,” Adam Gilchrist told Cricbuzz.
It is a major concern for the ace all-rounder. Given that the ICC T20 World Cup is fast approaching, Hardik Pandya needs to be fit. With Mohammed Shami injured and rest of the pacers out of form, it is absolutely crucial that Pandya remains fit. Team India doesn’t have an extra pace all-rounder apart from Hardik Pandya.
