No workload management for T20 World Cup probables during IPL 2024: Report

The BCCI source also went on to reveal that the first set of Team India selected players will leave for the USA and the West Indies by May 19.

As per a report in the PTI, a BCCI source revealed that no specific instructions about workload management have been given to the IPL franchises, keeping in mind the upcoming T20 World Cup. With the latter beginning on June 2, there are already a few injury concerns with the few top players in the country, but no directive has come from the board.

“Obviously, if any centrally contracted or targeted player gets injured, his case will automatically come under the purview of the NCA’s Medicine and Sports Science team.

“Also for the centrally contracted players and targeted players , the S&C coaches and physios need to keep NCA in loop. But when players are contracted with franchises, BCCI can’t dictate how many matches they will play. As far as bowlers are concerned, it is only four overs,” the source added.

India Squad for T20 World Cup by April End

The report further suggested that the Indian squad for the tournament will be picked by the end of April. “The Indian team will be selected sometime during the last week of April, the time by which the first half of IPL will be over and the national selection committee will be in a position to assess the form and fitness of the contenders,” the source added.

Not just that, the first set of Indian players, who make it to the squad will leave for America on May 19.
