IND vs AFG: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in contrast to earlier reports claiming that the projected India vs Afghanistan series will be cancelled due to a busy schedule, is now evaluating the option of fielding a backup team for the series. Prior to the West Indies tour, this action is being taken to give senior players, notably ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, much-needed rest. Hardik Pandya will likely lead that second-string Indian team.

All Indian players will take part in the forthcoming World Test Championship Final (WTC Final 2023) in England after undergoing a demanding Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season that lasted almost two months.

Senior players like Kohli and Rohit will need enough rest before starting the tough trip of the West Indies, where all three formats of the game will be played, as the WTC final has already demanded their complete concentration.

Hardik Pandya to lead Team India in IND vs AFG series!

The BCCI is thinking of shortening or converting the Afghanistan series into T20I one —which is set to take place between June 20 and June 30. The duty of representing India would therefore fall upon Hardik Pandya.

The president of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), Mirwais Ashraf, will meet with the BCCI to negotiate the specifics of the proposed white-ball series between the two countries when he is in India for the IPL 2023 final.

This meeting falls on the same day as the Asian Cricket Council, making it the perfect chance for both boards to finalise their preparations.

After the IPL is over, the Indian squad has a busy schedule ahead of them.

A lengthy tour of the Caribbean is also planned, even though the coaching staff and some team members have already left for England to get ready for the WTC championship match versus Australia.

From July 12 to August 13, India and the West Indies will face off in two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is.
