No Kohli, Kuldeep or Bumrah but 5 Indians make Star Sports’ T20 Team of the Year

The list features players from five nations.

After announcing their ODI Team of the Year, Star Sports’ has released their T20 Team of the Year. Taking into account multiple cricket leagues all over the globe, like the BBL, IPL, PSL, etc., and international cricket, a playing XI featuring cricketers from five different nations has been released.

The most shocking thing is that players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kuldeep Yadav haven’t made the list. Apart from these, no player from the current T20 World Cup champions, England, makes the list either. Moreover, the most expensive players in franchise cricket, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, also fail to make the cut.

Star Sports’ T20 Team of the Year

  • Shubman Gill (India)
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal (India)
  • Suryakumar Yadav (India)
  • Glenn Maxwell (Australia)
  • Nicholas Pooran (West Indies)
  • Rinku Singh (India)
  • Imad Wasim (Pakistan)
  • Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)
  • Mohammed Shami (India)
  • Shaheen Afridi (Pakistan)
  • Jason Behrendorff (Australia)

Indians dominate Star Sports’ T20 Team of the Year

With four batters (Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rinku Singh) and one bowler (Mohammed Shami), the India cricket team holds five of the eleven spots in the XI.

However, one could question if the team is correct or not. Batters like Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, and Colin Munro failed to make the XI despite being among the top 5 highest run scorers in 2023. Bowlers Zaman Khan, Nathan Ellis, and Daniel Sams also couldn’t make the list despite having impressive numbers.
