India cricket team decided to leave out Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh from their playing XI for their Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh. The Tigers won the toss and opted to bat first in the Dubai International stadium. Rohit announced that the side had only made a couple of changes to their playing XI from the IND vs ENG 3rd ODI.
No Arshdeep, Varun in India’s Champions Trophy opener
Speaking at the toss, captain Rohit revealed that Varun and Arshdeep would sit out of the contest against Bangladesh. Both Varun and the pacer had gotten just one opportunity against England in the recently concluded ODI series. Instead of going with Arshdeep’s experience, India have picked Harshit Rana to partner with Shami. Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav will comprise of the spin unit.

Arshdeep had been picked ahead of Siraj in India’s championbs Trophy squad. Skipper Rohit had cited his ability to do better than Siraj with the new ball to justify his selection. However, the team has decided to go ahead with Rana for the game against Bangladesh.
Varun, who replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal in the last-minute, has been benched as well. Prior to the game, Sharma had explained that Chakravarthy had been in exceptional form over the last year. He explained that it was the reason why India wanted to take the Tamil Nadu spinner to Dubai.
