Team India batter Shreyas Iyer will miss Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy quarter-final match against Baroda, starting on February 23 due to back trouble.
According to TOI, Iyer, who was dropped from India squad for the last three Test matches against England, didn’t turn up for Mumbai’s last league match due to similar issue.
Iyer made scores of 35, 13, 27 & 29 in the first two Tests before he was dropped from the squad for the remainder of the series.
However, the TOI has now reported that Iyer was excluded from India squad on a “precautionary basis” due to a back trouble that he complained about after the conclusion of second Test.
Notably, Shreyas Iyer has been struggling with back spasm since last 12 months. The batter underwent a back surgery in March last year and missed the entire IPL 2023 and WTC Final.
Iyer returned in Team India for Asia Cup 2023 but was forced to miss Pakistan game after complaining of back spasm.
