No show from Ashwin-Jadeja, Kuldeep-Axar poor show with ball in Duleep Trophy raise concerns

Huge concerns for Team India ahead of IND vs BAN Test series as Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel fail to perform with the ball in Duleep Trophy

Ahead of the IND vs BAN Test series, the India Cricket Team face a crisis. India’s ace spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel have struggled with the ball. And this is a major concern given that both Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja aren’t taking part in the Duleep Trophy.

Duleep Trophy is essentially treated as a warm-up tournament before India’s Test season kicks in. And in this tournament, India’s two ace spinners were unable to weave their magic with the ball. Now this will surely raise concerns before the Bangladesh Cricket Team tours India for a 2-match Test series.

Spin concerns rise for Team India

Ahead of the start of the tournament withdraw from the Duleep Trophy. On the other hand, Ashwin too hasn’t been a part of the tournament. But it was expected that the duo of Axar and Kuldeep would shine in the slow and spinning Indian tracks. But that was the case not to be.

In the India A vs India B clash, Kuldeep Yadav went on to bowl 21 overs, gave away 82 runs and managed to bag just a solitary wicket. On the other hand, in the India C vs India D clash, Axar Patel proved handy with the bat. He rescued India D with a brilliant innings of 86 runs.

But Axar couldn’t replicate his brilliance with the ball and managed to scalp just 2 wickets in 13 overs, but not without giving away 46 runs. With the Bangladesh series happening in the Indian soil, it will be expected that the Indian spinners turn up at their very best.

But without Axar and Kuldeep firing on all cylinders, it is now a rising concern for Team India in their spin department.
