No Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli & Jasprit Bumrah as BCCI names Duleep Trophy squads

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who both were touted to feature in Duleep Trophy, will not participate in the first round of games.

After years of anticipation, the domestic cricket is on the front page as BCCI’s Men’s Selection Committee has unveiled star-studded squads for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024 season. While several international stars will don the Team A, B, C and D jersey’s three big names excluded are Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.

While Bumrah is being kept safe, fans were expecting to see Rohit-Kohli back in domestic cricket after ages. Regardless, both veterans will enjoy a 40-odd days break and will directly compete in the home season starting with the two Tests against Bangladesh.

Gill, Gaikwad, Easwaran & Iyer to lead

The star-studded teams will be led by four talented skippers in Shubman Gill (Team A), Abhimanyu Easwaran (Team B), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Team C) and Shreyas Iyer (Team D). All four teams are packed with household names. KL Rahul, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav and Mayank Agarwal will play under Gill’s Team A. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ravindra Jadeja will be part of Team B.

Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan, who both will play the Buchi Babu tournament as well, are also part of the squads. It is pertinent to note that these are squads for just one match only (per team), i.e., for the first round. The first round will be played from September 5 to September 8 in Anantapur.
