No Prasidh Krishna? Selection conundrum over Mukesh vs Chahar for SKY before IND vs AUS 4th T20I

Mukesh Kumar or Deepak Chahar selection headache bothering SKY ahead of IND vs AUS 4th T20I

A win for the Men in Blue will secure India’s win over Australia in the ongoing 5-match IND vs AUS T20I series. But ahead of the 4th encounter in Raipur, skipper Suryakumar Yadav has a tough selection headache. While the batting side has performed well, the same can’t be said about the bowling unit. With Prasidh Krishna leaking runs in the past matches, SKY will be in a major fix in choosing between Mukesh Kumar and Deepak Chahar.

Mukesh Kumar has been good in the first two matches, which the Indians won. He left the squad for the third match to get married and Deepak Chahar was subsequently added to the squad for the remainder of the series. Given the form Mukesh is in, he is likely to be a frontrunner in the team.

Prasidh Krishna has been with the Indian team from the Asia Cup to the ODI World Cup squad. He got his chance in this series and has faired well in some occasions. But the biggest highlight for him will be the 3rd T20I where he gave away 68 runs including 23-runs in the final over as Glenn Maxwell helped his side win an exciting thriller.

Time for experiments is over! SKY and VVS Laxman will now be keen to wrap the series and this calls in for quite a few changes. If Prasidh Krishna is benched, will Mukesh be the first preference? or will they take a gamble in opting for Deepak Chahar.

After his injury concerns, Deepak Chahar is back with the Men in Blue. Not only is he a good bowler, he is also a handy batter which can be added bonus as India will have a batting option at Number 8. A bowler vs All-rounder will be the main debate for SKY ahead of the IND vs AUS 4th T20I.
