The hosts of MI Live had a stern warning for fans and social media bullies, asking them to avoid trolling or targeting players. The message from the IPL side comes amid the Hardik Pandya-Rohit Sharma saga, with the former being targeted by MI fans and trolls after replacing the Hitman as the skipper. Taking to X, MI shared a video where the host was seen asking fans to name and shame trolls.
The host noted that while they were the connection between the team and the fans, they would not tolerate trolling. He further requested fans to refrain from targeting players, categorically stating that there was no room for use of ‘disgusting language’.
Referring to a social media post where Hardik Pandya is trolled by fans, the host of MI Live said that the cricketer had a child and that such language shouldn’t be used against a player. He noted that while disagreements were welcome, the use of such language was absolutely not done.
Hardik was targeted by a section of Mumbai Indians fans after he replaced Rohit as the side’s skipper. From using abusive language on his social media posts to burning MI jerseys, fans expressed their disappointment in many ways.
Rohit Sharma-Hardik Pandya saga
Mumbai Indians replacing Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as the skipper ahead of IPL 2024 came to the surprise of a few, not so surprising for many. For many months, and even more so after the agonizing loss at the World Cup 2023 finals, speculations about the Hitman’s future in the shortest format has been doing rounds. That air was cleared for a brief bit when Sharma announced his ambition to clinch the T20 World Cup.
