‘No one respects RCB’ IPL franchise trolled after Jailer makers agree to alter scene

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) owners filed a case against makers of Jailer movie and won the legal battle.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) celebrated the news of the Delhi High Court removing a movie scene from the Jailer movie in which the villainous character is wearing RCB jersey. The scene where the goon comes face to face to meet Rajnikanth will not be shown from September 1. To note, RCB filed the case against the producers of Jailer movie for not obtaining prior permission of them before using the RCB jersey.

“The Defendants as well as all parties acting for or on their behalf, including their distribution network shall be bound by the above terms and conditions. With effect from 1st September 2023, in the theatrical depiction of the film Jailer, the RCB team jersey shall stand edited/altered.

The Defendants shall ensure that after 1st September 2023, none of the theatres will exhibit the RCB jersey in any form whatsoever. Insofar as television, satellite, or any OTT platform is concerned, prior to the release thereof, the altered version of the film shall be broadcasted/telecasted,” the Court ordered.

RCB, who have a loyal fanbase, were hurt by the scene and felt the message given by the villainous character is misogynistic. However, a few of the non-RCB fans trolled RCB and felt no one respects the franchise. Often, the Virat Kohli-powered franchise gets ridiculed for not winning IPL trophy despite playing in the T20 tournament since the inception of IPL in 2008.

One of the users wrote, “Doesn’t give trophy to RCB.” Another user wrote, “No one respects RCB.”

The IPL-based side filed a complaint to the court and raised objections to the use of the RCB Jersey in scenes that have been depicted as “denigratory manner.” As per the movie, a contract killer wore the jersey and made misogynistic to a female character in the movie.

The filmmakers have agreed to alter the movie scene, and from September 1 the scene won’t be shown. “This would include deletion of primary colours of RCB jersey as also the branding of the sponsors, etc. which appear on the RCB jersey,” the parties.

“In view of the fact that the feature film Jailer has already been released in theatres as of 10th August 2023, the parties have agreed that the Defendants shall carry out this alteration in theatrical mode, within ten days i.e. by 1st September 2023,” the court noted.
