No ODI debut yet for Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson gets nod ahead of Rinku Singh in India Playing XI for IND vs SA 1st ODI

The India Cricket Team has left out in-form Rinku Singh from the playing XI in the IND vs SA 1st ODI. With Shreyas Iyer playing his first and last match of the ODI series, Sanju Samson makes a return for the Men in Blue. As a result Rinku Singh’s much awaited ODI debut remains to see the light of the day.

Rinku Singh has been in splendid form off late. The destructive southpaw showcased his power-hitting in the IND vs AUS T20I series and featured in all five games. He continued his fine form in the IND vs SA T20I series and has made the designated finisher’s spot his very own.

But when it comes to the 50-over format, Rinku hasn’t featured in the much awaited IND vs SA 1st ODI. In fact, Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson got the nod ahead of Rinku Singh. It can be assumed that Rinku will get his chance in the next match.

KL Rahul and Rahul Dravid feels that it will be difficult to incorporate the likes of Samson, Varma and Rinku in the same middle order. But with Shreyas Iyer playing only this game, Rinku Singh can expect his chance of inclusion in the team go up by leaps and bounces.

Furthermore, this will also serve as a testing ground for both Samson and Tilak Varma to show their worth in the team. Should they fail, they can be very well replaced by an in-form Rinku Singh ready to leave his mark in the ODIs.

India Playing XI: KL Rahul(w/c), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudharsan, Shreyas Iyer, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar
