No more privileges to Rohit-Kohli , Jasprit Bumrah gets preferential treatment from Gautam Gambhir

No more extended breaks for Rohit and Kohli. Only Jasprit Bumrah to get workload management claims new India head coach Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir has often made it clear that he is not a big fan of workload management. However, he has given special privilege for Jasprit Bumrah. The ace speedster is set to receive preferential treatment as Gambhir is ready to give Bumrah breaks. Joining Bumrah, the entire pace department will undergo this workload management.

As has been the norm, the seniors specially Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli often take breaks after long series. This paves way for others to play in less important series. But that won’t necessarily be the case with Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir claimed that since the duo will now play on 2 formats of the game, there is no point in not playing if they are in good from.

Workload Management for Pace Department

“I’ve said it before, workload management for someone like Bumrah is important. If you are a batter who is in good form, might as well play all games. Workload management not just for Bumrah, for most fast bowlers it is very very important,” Gautam Gambhir said in the Press Conference.

Gambhir heaped praises for Bumrah, claiming him to be a rare kind of bowler. Interestinly, Bumrah gets an extended break after his heroics in the ICC T20 World Cup. The ace pacer won’t be a part of the IND vs SL series in any capacity. The new head coach claimed how important it is to protect the pacers in the team.

Not just the Bumrah, but the other pacers too will be under workload management. But that won’t be the case for Ro-Ko or for any of the batters. As per Gambhir’s mantra – if a batsman is getting runs, no need to stop but continue to play.
