The IPL 2025 will see a mega auction before the 10 IPL teams take the field again for another year of all-round cricketing extravaganza. Ahead of the mega auction, teams will only be allowed to retain only a certain number of players. The number is expected to be in single digits. For Indian batter Prithvi Shaw, it looks like the end of road in DC colours. Shaw was dropped from the Playing XI against LSG on Tuesday, and with the number of missed opportunities, it doesn’t look like he will be retained by the franchise ahead of the mega auction.
Amre’s straight forward reply on Prithvi Shaw
Shaw has been warming the bench for the last few games with Abhishek Porel opening for the Delhi Capitals. Porel produced results too, with the southpaw scoring a half-century on Tuesday.
When asked about Shaw’s absence, Amre said, “He [Shaw] was our retained player, and as you see, last four [of five] games he was also on the bench. But that’s the IPL. If you are not in form, you can’t [keep your place]. Ultimately, the pressure for the team is so much that every game is important and we have to win.”

What’s next for Prithvi Shaw?
Delhi Capitals have unearthed a host of talent in this year’s IPL. Foreign players like Jake Fraser-Macgurk, Tristan Stubbs have impressed with their powerful display and so have Indians like Abhishek Porel and Rashikh Salam. It has not been announced how many players the franchises would be allowed to retain, but it can be expected to be in single digits. With so many talented players and so few spot, Shaw in all probability will unfortunately have to find a new franchise to play from.
