In the latest measure to ensure security, snipers will be deployed at covert locations in the Nassau Cricket County stadium for the IND vs PAK clash in T20 World Cup. The high-octane contest, which will take place on June 9, has already been in the spotlight with the authorities fearing a ‘lone-wolf attack’.
As per reports, SWAT teams with specialist snipers and plain clothes policemen will be operating at various parts of the ground. The latest security deployment could prove to be dangerous for both pitch invaders and players.
IND vs PAK match to have snipers for security
In their effort to maintain adequate security measures, the Nassau police department will work in close quarters with the FBI, US Department of Homeland security and the New York Police Department. Additionally, the four drop-in pitches are being monitored 24/7 by special officers who have been redesignated from the narcotics department to avoid the pitches being hampered with.

Previously, a pro-ISIS group sent out blood chilling messages about possibly harming the IND vs PAK clash. An ominous picture was posted by a pro ISIS group claiming “You wait for matches and we wait for you.”
The poster showed drones flying in the air along with a stick of dynamite. On the other hand, the date of the game and the stadium name was also mentioned. The picture also showed a back silhouette of a sniper with a blood chilling message.

What ICC said about terror threat to T20 WC?
“The safety and security of everyone at the event is our number one priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement to BBC Sport.
“We work closely with authorities in our host countries and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event,” it added.
