No more Australia: Rohit Sharma takes hilarious jibe ahead of IND vs ENG clash

Team India will take on England on June 27, Thursday in the second semi-final in Guyana.

Ahead of the crucial IND vs ENG T20 World Cup clash, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was in a joyous mood as he took a cheeky dig at Australia during the press conference before the semi-final against England on Wednesday. Rohit claimed that the biggest takeaway from the tournament was the fact that there was no Australia in the competition.

“That there’s no more Australian cricket team in this competition (laughs). No, look, I think Australia is a great side, without a doubt. That’s probably the reason they have won so many championships,” Rohit said in a press conference ahead of IND vs ENG T20 World Cup clash.

But for us, the last game, I think the confidence we played the game with, I think that is something that we can take away with us, that confidence of bowlers executing their plans, batters going out there and doing their job. I think this format is all about confidence, ” he added.

I was happy to put pressure on bowlers: Rohit Sharma

And personally, for me as well, I wanted to try and do something which I’ve been trying to do for a number of years, which is to try and put pressure on the bowlers in whatever way I can. And for me to do that was a great satisfaction at the end of the day. I was waiting for the game to end. Obviously, we wanted the result in our favour. And that is when you feel that what you did there was very satisfying,” said Rohit.

As stated above, team India will take on England on June 27, Thursday in the second semi-final in Guyana. The winner of the match will face South Africa in the final match of the T20 World Cup.
