Maxwell came in to bat at a stage when RCB were tottering at 16/2 within three overs. The Australian joined his skipper Faf du Plessis at the middle. He began his innings by smashing a boundary in just his second ball against Jason Behrendorff.

Maxwell was particularly severe against Chris Jordan in the innings. The English pacer, who is making his Mumbai Indians debut was welcomed with a six over deep square leg off the first ball he bowled in the match. The Australian didn’t stop as he hammered yet another maximum in the over, depositing the ball deep into the stands.

He reached the fifty in the 10th over off the innings with a single to short third man. The 34-year old however succumbed to a slower delivery from compatriot Jason Behrendorff. He tried to go for a big shot but ended up giving a catch to Nehal Wadhera. He slammed 64 off 39 balls that included five fours and three sixes.

Maxwell shared a 120-run stand with Faf du Plessis. This is the fourth 100+ stand from the duo. Maxwell had earlier slammed half-centuries against Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the season. All three three knocks came at the team’s home ground in Bengaluru.
