The ever-so controversial ‘Impact Rule’ is under scanner once more. It seems like the the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to provide their decision on the rule for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025. However, they have put their decision on hold, a likely prospect that this ‘Impact sub’ rule might not be in for next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.
BCCI’s letter for Impact Player Rule
BCCI has announced a postponement in its decision regarding the implementation of the Impact Player rule for India’s premier domestic Twenty20 competition.
The BCCI said in a letter to the state associations that it will release information later on the terms of play for the domestic men’s Twenty20 competition, including the Impact Player rule. It is anticipated that the choice will be made within a few days. The BCCI has given the states advice on how to divide the match money in the interim.
“With regards to Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, if a team decides to use the ‘Impact Player’ during the match, he will be eligible for 100 per cent match fees over and above the playing XI,” the BCCI stated.
