With Australia 237/2, things looked ominous for Team India. Ravindra Jadeja gets Marnus Labuschagne out, but no one is happy. Why? Because in walked Travis Head. India’s tormentor-in-chief. The guy who singlehandedly beat Rohit Sharma and co. in the World Test Championship Final and ODI World Cup Final.
Travis Head’s incredible run in BGT
Head is the highest score of the ongoing India vs Australia Test series and by a long distance. He’s scored hundreds in Adelaide and Brisbane. Everyone is scared of the southpaw who can flip the game in a matter of minutes. But Jasprit Bumrah, who had struggled against him, especially compared to how he’d destroyed everyone else, had other ideas.
Before the Boxing Day Test, Bumrah had averaged over 40 against Head. The southpaw had scored 83 runs off him in just 91 balls. Today, the unorthodox pacer had other things in mind.

No running from Bumrah
With a 66 overs old ball, Bumrah needed just 2 balls to send the best batter in the world back to the pavillion. Many had stated that Team India hadn’t targetted Head around his weak zone, just outside off. Bumrah heard them. In his 16th over of the day, he runs in hard and bowls at off stump. Head leaves the ball, it kisses the bail, and all of a sudden Australia is 4 down for 240. 15 balls later, he gets Mitchell Marsh, and Australia goes from 237/2 to 246/5. All because of one man, Jasprit Bumrah.
Before today, he hardly got a crack at Head when he wasn’t set. Most times, before Bumrah was introduced, he’d already gotten a great start and would throw everything at Bumrah, on whom the entire India bowling line-up is dependent. Today, he got a good crack at the batter and viola.
