No Harm: AB de Villiers sees no harm, roots for Impact Rule in IPL 2024

South Africa legend AB de Villiers roots for Impact Rule in IPL 2024, claims seeing no harm with new rule which assists batters

The Impact Rule in IPL 2024 hasn’t been appreciated by the players, nor the fans. While the likes of Rohit Sharma, Axar Patel criticising it, for Protean great AB de Villiers has claimed that he doesn’t see much harm in it. ABD claimed that the Indian Premier League currently favours the batters and it is too early for him to take a call on it.

Fans and players have often criticised the impact rule. Especially in IPL 2024, the rule has seen the batting side benefiting from it. Fans have even claimed that this rule allows 12 people to play the game. This too lead Indian skipper Rohit Sharma to claim that cricket is game that should be played with 11 players.

It is the batter’s game at the moment. They are having a feast and it doesn’t help that the wickets have been incredibly good at the IPL. I was excited when it was introduced. It’s too early for me to call it but I personally don’t see too much harm to it,” said AB de Villiers on his YouTube Channel.

ABD has claimed that IPL currently is mainly for the batters. Even the pitches have favoured the batters with little to nothing to offer for the bowlers. In fact sides have managed to score 200+runs with relative ease. ABD claimed that he was excited when the rule was implemented. And since it still in early phases, he sees no harm with his rule.
