No Andre Russell, Jason Holder as West Indies name squad for T20Is vs South Africa

The veteran duo of Andre Russell and Jason Holder, along with Alzarri Jospeh, have been left out of West Indies' squad for South Africa T20Is

All-rounders Andre Russell and Jason Holder have been rested from the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Russell, who is injury-prone, has asked the board for some time off to recover. Meanwhile, former skipper Holder has also been rested after featuring in five back-to-back Tests.

Russell’s request for a break comes after his stint in The Hundred. Alzarri Joseph, who was the vice-captain in the T20 World Cup, has also been left out. Shimron Hetmyer has managed to retain his spot in the side despite not having played even a single game in the WC.

Andre Russell requested a period of rest and recovery as well as Jason Holder who played five back-to-back five Tests against England and South Africa. During this period, they will work closely with the CWI science and medicine team,” said Miles Bascombe, Director of Cricket.
