MS Dhoni the CSK GOAT
Coming into bat at No. 9 for only the second time in his IPL career, Dhoni played a whirlwind innings of 30 runs, from 16 deliveries, that included two sixes and a four in the last over of the match, against Krunal Pandya. And in that bid, the 43-year-old became the highest run-getter for CSK ever.
During his unbeaten innings, Dhoni reached 4699 runs for CSK, the highest for the team in the history of IPL, surpassing Suresh Raina’s tally of 4687 runs. The next best is Faf Du Plessis with 2721 runs, followed by skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad at 2433 runs. For the record, Dhoni achieved the mark in 236 matches, while Raina had got his runs 176 encounters.

Having said that, if other tournaments for CSK are also included, then Raina has more runs for CSK, than MS Dhoni. In 200 matches for the Yellow team, the southpaw scored 5529 runs at an average of 33, while MSD scored 5148 runs in 260 matches at an average of 39.
If one talks about his stats at all batting positions, MS Dhoni, without any doubt, was the most successful at No. 5 for his team, where he played 73 innings, and scored 1955 runs at an average of 47.7, and a strike-rate of 144.5. The second on the list was No. 4 position, where in 66 innings. he scored 1559 runs at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 138.
