Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has set his sight firmly on red-ball cricket and has aspires to be a part of the Indian Test team in the future. Reddy joins the long list of players who are turning their attention from T20s towards the longest format of the game. After being sidelined due to a groin injury, the all-rounder is all set to return in the Duleep Trophy.

Nitish Reddy’s Test aspirations

As per The Telegraph, Nitish Kumar Reddy said that red-ball cricket defined a player’s technique and character as it was the longest format that kept throwing challenges. The all-rounder revealed that he was working on his bowling at the moment.

Red-ball cricket defines your technique, character and everything else. It’s the longest format which keeps throwing challenges, that’s why it’s called a Test. So, the better you play it, the more you grow as a cricketer. I believe red-ball cricket is the biggest format,” Nitish told The Telegraph

Nitish Reddy also revealed his roadmap to making his dream debut for India in Tests. The all-rounder believes that if he bats and fields consistently alongside bowling, then he will be on track to play for India soon. He added that he was inspired by the all-rounders as he knew how hard it was to be one.

I’m focusing a bit more on my bowling part right now. I believe if I improve my bowling and be consistent in hitting the right areas in conjunction with my batting and fielding, I’ll be on track to serve the Indian team,” Nitish Reddy said.

Nitish Reddy’s performance in IPL 2024 was rewarded with a maiden call-up for IND vs ZIM series. However, the injury had forced his debut to be postponed. Nitish Reddy will be a part of Team B in the Duleep Trophy which will get underway from September 5.
