Former India spinner Nikhil Chopra, ex-Delhi Ranji player Mithun Manhas and the junior selector Krishan Mohan are in line to become the selectors for the BCCI. As per a report in the PTI, the BCCI had invited applications for a single position in the five-man panel in January.
The West Zone selector Salil Ankola is likely to make way for the new selector from the North Zone, which does not have any representation ever since the term of Chetan Sharma. It is learnt that former India wicket-keeper Ajay Ratra is in the mix too. The report further suggests that the CAC head Ashok Malhotra will interview the shortlisted candidates soon.
“There are a few strong candidates who are in the race and they include Mithun, Chopra and Mohan,” said a BCCI source.
The eligibility criteria for the selector is set at either 7 Tests or 30 first-class matches. A candidate with an experience of 10 ODIs or 20 FC will also do. For the record, Mithun has played 157 first-class games, while Chopra played 39 ODIs for India,
