Nicholas Pooran continued his blistering IPL 2025 campaign with yet another show of brute strength at the Ekana Stadium on Saturday. In the LSG vs GT clash, Pooran wrestled back the Orange Cap from Sai Sudharsan in a six-hitting show for the home fans.
Coming to the crease at the fall of Rishabh Pant’s wicket, Nicholas Pooran got down to business quickly, smashing Rashid Khan for a maximum off just his fifth ball at the crease. He followed it up with another maximum off Washington Sundar before hitting Sai Kishore for three in his first over. Kishore has been one of the most effective bowlers in IPL 2025, but the West Indian powerhouse treated him like a rookie on the block.
Pooran started the innings 42 behind Sai Sudharsan in the race for the IPL 2025 Orange Cap, and it took him only 21 deliveries to wrestle it back from his opponent. The 29-year-old has struck at a strike of 225.69 this season at an average of 84.75. He leads the charts with 29 sixes to his name. To put that into context, Gujarat Titans’ top three of Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler have only managed 28 among them.
He followed it up with his 30th six of the season, smashing Mohammed Siraj over the mid-wicket boundary. He got to his half-century in just 23 balls, lacing it with a solitary boundary and six maximums.

Pooran in IPL 2025
Nicholas Pooran has been consistently brutal for Lucknow Super Giants this season, forming a remarkable top-order axis with Mitch Marsh and Aiden Markram. The 29-year-old smashed his career-best IPL score in the last game and raced to his fourth fifty in 6 games on Saturday.
The West Indian ace has come good on LSG’s decision to retain him as their top pick, paying a massive Rs 16 crore to secure his services.
