Nicholas Pooran delivered a blistering display of power-hitting as he smashed the fastest fifty of IPL 2025, reaching the milestone in just 18 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In a high-octane chase of 191, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were off to a flying start, thanks to Pooran’s fearless assault on SRH’s bowling attack despite losing Aiden Markram early.
Nicholas Pooran’s show demolishes SRH
Coming in after the early wicket of Markram, Pooran wasted no time in making his intentions clear. He was particularly ruthless against Simarjeet Singh and Abhishek Sharma, smashing consecutive sixes off both bowlers. A brutal 94-meter six off Adam Zampa brought up his fifty, as he launched the ball into the deep square-leg stands and blew a kiss to the crowd in celebration. His innings was a perfect blend of raw power and elegant stroke play, dismantling SRH’s strategy in a matter of overs.
With Pooran in devastating touch, LSG raced to 96/1 by the end of seven overs. The carnage began when he took 17 runs off Simarjeet Singh’s first over, including two towering sixes and a cut shot that raced to the boundary. Fortunately for SRH, Pooran’s brilliance of 70 (in 26 balls) came to an end when Pat Cummins got him plumb in front of the stumps in the 9th over.
