Saumy Pandey has been hoggin the limelight of late, courtesy his incredible performances in the U19 World Cup. The leggie has been a revelation for the Indian colts. However, owing to his stellar performances, comparison has been drawn with Ravindra Jadeja. But Saumy Pandey’s father claims that his son hasn’t done anything to be compared with Jadeja.
Like Jadeja, the youngster is having a sensational campaign. Saumy Pandey has already scalped 17 wickets. Not only does he pick wickets at regular intervals, he is crucial in restricting the opposition in scoring runs in the middle order.
“If people are comparing him with Ravindra Jadeja, it is not fair. Jadeja has played fifteen years of cricket, he has earned 100 marks in his career. He has done the hard yards, worked hard to reach at this level and has won so many games for India,” Saumya’s father Krishna Kumar Pandey told Indian Express.
Saumy’s father has shut down all comparisons to Jadeja. He blatantly claimed that his son “has yet to earn that first mark in his career.” Saumy’s next venture will be to successfully help India win the ICC U19 World Cup. The young Indian boys will face Australia at Willowmoore Park, Benoni on 11th February.
