Dhruv Jurel hammered his maiden Test fifty on his very second match of his career. Batting when the team needed him the most, Jurel stood against all odds. He faced every adversary with courage and determination. But the 23-year old registered a fine fifty to create a massive roadblock to the England Cricket Team. Sunil Gavaskar praised the youngster, tipping him to be the next MS Dhoni.
“Watching the presence of mind of Dhruv Jurel makes me think he’s the next MS Dhoni in the making,” said Sunil Gavaskar during the commentary.
Dhruv Jurel was cautious and determined in his approach. He slammed just 3 fours and a solitary sixer to reach his half century. Where most of the Indian batters have fumbled, young Jurel has continued India’s charge. With his gritty knock, India are now reducing the gap with England’s score on Day 3 of the IND vs ENG 4th Test.
On the other hand, it will be very good news for both Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid. Since Rishabh Pant’s injury India have consistently struggled to find a keeper who can bat well. With KL Rahul being injured, India needed a decent backup keeper.
KS Bharat proved to be a good keeper but he failed to score runs despite getting his chances. With backup keeper Rajat Patidar failing too, Dhruv Jurel comes in a breath of fresh air in the team. With India keen to consolidate their place in the top of the WTC Standings, it is imperative that India continues to trust the youngster.
