Former England Cricket Team captain Eoin Morgan has denied reports to take over Three Lions as white-ball coach. Reports claim that Morgan was slated to replace Matthew Mott as the new coach for England in white-ball format. However, that is not the case, as Morgan has denied the news especially after England’s poor performance in recent times.
Under Morgan, England went on to win the ODI World Cup back in 2019. Furthermore, England had a torrid time in USA. England could procure only 3 wins in the ODI World Cup 2023. And in the T20 World Cup, the defending champions were defeated in semi finals by eventual champions, i.e. Rohit Sharma’s India.
“This news is actually news to me. It’s obviously not nice when a coach comes under fire and there is a lot of speculation about his future, but only time will tell what will happen,” Eoin Morgan told Sky Sports while commentating for The Hundred.
Morgan denies England head coach job
Earlier, Morgan went on to defend Matthew Mott and skipper Jos Buttler after England’s poor performances. And now Morgan has once again reiterated that he has no plans to take up the head coach job. This is mainly owing to his family commitments and hos broadcast job.
“I’ve been asked a lot [in the media] over the past couple of months about the role, and if I would take it on. My answer has simply been that the timing for everything in my life at the moment is not right. Yes, I want to coach down the line. But I have a young family, and I spend a lot more time at home and watching cricket doing this [commentary]. I’m absolutely loving what I’m doing,” Morgan added.
