New Zealand’s injured XI! Star pacer limps off during AUS vs NZ World Cup match

The New Zealand team is suffering from couple of injury blows in the ongoing World Cup 2023.

New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson got injured during AUS vs NZ Cricket World Cup match at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday. Ferguson limped off the field after bowling just 3 overs and was later ruled out for the rest of the game.

Electing to bowl first, Ferguson came in the 7th over and was hit for 19 runs in his first overs by Australia openers David Warner and Travis Head. The pacer gave away another 19 runs in next two overs before he went off the field with an injured right Achilles.

The BlackCaps gave an update of Ferguson’s injury on ‘X’, stating: “Lockie Ferguson is off the field after experiencing pain in his right Achilles while bowling. He won’t return to the field and will be further assessed.”

Ferguson is the third-highest wicket-taker for New Zealand in the tournament with eight wickets from five matches. Earlier, veteran pacer Tim Southee suffered from thumb injury before the start of the World Cup and is yet to play a single match for the side in the tournament.
