New position for Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan as opener: Aakash Chopra’s prediction for India’s batting order going ahead

Aakash Chopra claims Shubman Gill will replace Virat Kohli's number 4 spot in Test cricket

The India Cricket Team is set for a major transition. And the work for that has started. Team India will have to gradually think of the future without the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has given his opinion as to how the team will shape up. He claims that Shubman Gill will slot down at 4, while Sai Sudharsan will partner Yashasvi Jaiswal as the opener in the longest format of the game.

Aakash Chopra has claimed that Sai Sudharsan will become the new opener for Yashasvi Jaiswal. He believes that KL Rahul is there as the backbone of the team. But the thing about Shubman Gill is how he will gradually take Virat Kohli’s spot in the team.

Shubman Gill future Virat Kohli’s replacement?

“One player who comes to my mind and for whom all of us should be ready, he is the future of Indian batting, he is Sai Sudharsan. Yashasvi Jaiswal is there. Shubman Gill, who will eventually go to No. 4, is there, and after that, Rishabh Pant is there. So these are your three pillars. KL Rahul is there with you for some time,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Aakash Chopra has decided to speak about the future. He claims that when Rohit, Virat, and KL Rahul are gone, Shubman Gill will settle down at the number 4 position.

“Of course, he is the most senior among all of them and is playing as an opener. So you can keep him along with you. However, eventually when KL Rahul goes, an opener’s place will become vacant. I see Shubman settling down as No. 4. I see his career progressing at No. 4 as soon as Virat Kohli says goodbye. So I am thinking about Sai Sudharsan,” Chopra added.

Next opener – Sai Sudharsan?

Aakash Chopra has pinned all his hopes on 23-year-old Sai Sudharsan as the opener of the Indian Test team. Chopra claims that the young southpaw has a great future ahead of him. And when he gets his chance he would perform to his best like he did in the IPL final.

“Considering his playing style and temperament, I genuinely feel he has a great future ahead of him because whenever you have given him a chance on the big stage, it looks like he belongs to this space. Even when it was the IPL final, he played easily,” he concluded.
